Selections for 19.07.2015-Bangalore

    • Race 1 :  Presidents Rule, The Jaguar, Quarter Cask, Shoot Out & Rakshita are the contenders. On Jockey merit I am picking Quarter Cask to score. Rakshita & Shoot Out can go close.
    • Race 2 :  Kings Kid who finished 4th in his last start has a positive jockey switch is likely to finish ahead of the competition in my analysis.
    • Race 3 : Better Than Ever & I Smile should fight it out and may be Better Than Ever may just pull it off. My only concern is Ramu who has not had a single winner this season so far out of 29 mounts he has accepted.
    • Race 4 :  Considering that Downtown Abbey pulled up lame close to the winning post in her last start, Aaka Teej who gets a better rider may make it to the post first.
    • Race 5 :  It is always an herculean task for a juvenile filly to concede weight and also encounter step up in distance. Janeiro today has to do exactly the same to score an encore after her impressive debut victory. However the two maidens Festive Cheer & Granada are better suited for the distance both by pedigree and preparation. Festive Cheer may just about pip Granada but I must say we should not ignore Granada because Trevor who has discarded his stable mount in this race in favour of Granada. So my final choice is Granada.
    • Race 6 :  By decisively winning the Maharaja Cup Quasar might have settled the argument that he is better than Be Safe not withstanding all the hue and cry on the Invitation loss of Be Safe. In my personal opinion Be Safe is slightly ahead of Quasar in talent and Be Safe has lost that bit of condition and focus in his last start. If he has regained that focus and condition, as the stable would have us believe, Quasar has the fight on his hands. I am giving Be Safe one last hope to regain his aura by beating his arch rival.
    • Race 7 :  Jackie Oh & Havelock Prince, the two horses which have winning form, are having their first ever run in Class II and require a run or two before graduating to highest class. Inquisition, Secret Punch, Eternal Desire, Son Of The Stars, Capitalize & Fatal Attraction are to be ignored for obvious reasons. Amazing Redd should find the competition tough and bide his time instead of wasting his energy here. Jersey Shore is woefully out of form and can be considered, only on account of the fact that he would get solid assistance from the saddle with top jockey astride, as an outsider. That leaves us with Pentagram and Mickey Mouse and I prefer to go along with Mickey Mouse who has 2.5 kg advantage over Pentagram vis a vis their previous run in the same race.
    • Race 8 :  In this trophy race run over a derby distance of 2000M, I am discounting the chances of all 3YO horses as in my assessment it requires an extra ordinary horse to succeed against 4Y or 5Yo horse who have experience over this distance. Turf Tactics who is coming from the lowest Class is also ignored. So is Living Legend who is long in tooth. Of the remaining 3 smoking Bell is also ignored due to lack of form and sufficient preparation. Both Native Force and Anarosa has done well over this distance. Anarosa is being meticulously prepared for this event, it seems, in the training track but she is conceding weight to Native Force which is a huge factor in this kind of races. Added to this is the fact that Native Force has the services of the top Jockey and the credentials of Zervan is little bit suspect. My Final vote therefore goes to Native Force.
    • Race 9 :  Having won a weight raised race in her last start in the same class Sun Glow, who is carrying just 2.5 kgs more as compared to her last run, looks superior in this set and should not lose the race with same Jockey astride.

DERBY DAY SELECTIONS

    • RACE 1: Precious Glitter, Elegant Star, Mr Big Shot,Helios and Del Porto are in Contention in this class IV  weight raised race. In my view Helios & Mr Big Shot are the real contenders. They are stable mates and it could go any which way. However I feel Mr Big Shot who was favourite in his last run and who found 1100m little too short for his liking, with same same jockey astride is likely to make it to the post first ahead of Precious Glitter & Elegant Star.
    • RACE 2:  Zubaida, One Big Gang and Amethyst have the numbers in their favour. I fancy Amethyst with top jockey astride to win at decent odds.
    • RACE 3: On the evidence of her attractive 2nd (despite blundering at 850m), Stevalena is considered one good bet for the day.
    • RACE 4:Ambitiously campaigned with the likes of Quasar & Tiger Tops in terms races Torch Bearer was eye catching 2nd to Arabian Warrior in his last start. Now that he has had two runs in this class is poised to score with David Allan to guide him ably. Last Start winner of the same class in a weight raised race Azzuro may however trouble him.
    • RACE 5: With Y S Srinath in the saddle (a positive switch) and finding weaker set having been elected to run in the lower class, All In is likely to put across his competitors and emerge victorious in this race.
    • RACE 6: A brave second to Gold Berg in a race where she finished ahead of Referent, Suzanna has outstanding credentials to win this race not withstanding the fact that her vanquisher is also in the fray.
    • RACE 7: Irrespective of the assumptions by many I hold Eternal Flame in very high esteem and in the absence of Admiralty has no opposition worth her salt to challenge her. She will douse the flames of hope if any of the competitors who dare to beat her.
    • RACE 8: James Bond on whom a quiet gamble failed last time, because Deepak Patel could not jettison his mount favourably, could upset the apple cart of the favourite in this race.
    • RACE 9: Super Success who was installed favourite  in the season opener, which was won by Referent, has it in him to get the race in his favour this time around.

SELECTIONS FOR Pre-Derby day 11/07/2015

  • Race 1: While Adolf and Saladin may attract greater attention, my assumption is Amazing Charm will wind up to give her best to Claim the Trophy.
  • Race 2: Even though he is conceding weight Areca Wonder has best credentials in view of his experience either in winning or in participating in Graded races.
  • Race 3: In my view the race is between To the Future and Tuscano, both failed favourites in the same class earlier. I think To The Future holds the edge over Tuscano.
  • Race 4: Having shed his maiden status finally in the open Class in a weight raised race, Supreme Dominator, is poised to score an encore in the age group race in same class.
  • Race 5: Being the only Maiden 3YO rated above 30 in the fray, Mister Majestic should come out of maiden ranks in this Class IV race.
  • Race 6: The best miler in the racing circuit Zachary may just about pull it off in this Gr 2 race. Acclaimed may prove to be a thorn in his flesh. Acclaimed is an each way  chance.
  • Race 7: Facile winner of his last start The Lieutinant has a fair chance to annexe this cup.
  • Race 8: Now that Androstos has won a race after so many failed efforts he should assert himself again, and should climb up the handicap scale rapidly.
DAYS BEST: ARECA WONDER
DOUBLE : SUPREME DOMINATOR & ANDROSTOS.
